Animal Welfare Party to Stand Three Candidates in 2025 Local Elections

Animal Welfare Party is delighted to announce three candidates standing in the May 1st Local Elections, each one making a small piece of history by being the first ever to stand for an animal party in their respective wards. 

Lee Williscroft-Ferris, currently a sitting councillor for AWP on Hexham Town Council, Northumberland will stand in the ward of Humshaugh, Northumberland and for the Wark ward of Wark Parish Council.

AWP is happy to announce that Gavin Ridley will stand for election in the ward of Alderney and Bourne Valley in Dorset and Jane Smith will stand for election to Smallwood Parish Council in Cheshire East, in the 2023 local elections to be held in England on 4th May. 

In the Alderney and Bourne Valley ward in Dorset, with the biodiversity and climate crises a key concern, Gavin Ridley intends to focus his campaigning on the urgent need to make space for nature in the ward.

AWP Celebrates Encouraging Local Election Results

Animal Welfare Party is celebrating encouraging results in last week’s local elections in which the party stood two candidates:

In Southend’s Victoria Ward, where AWP’s candidate Rik Moran stood for the first time, he received 105 votes / 3%.

In Croydon’s Addiscombe West ward, where AWP’s candidate Saffron Gloyne stood for the first time, she received 155 votes / 1.6%.
