AWP Celebrates 2024 London Mayor & Assembly Election Results

AWP’s is celebrating a set of inspiring results in the 2024 London Mayor and London-wide Assembly Elections.

Mayor of London Election 

In the election for Mayor of London, AWP’s Femy Amin received: 29,280 votes (1.18% of the vote) and came 8th out of 13 candidates.

The party previously contested the London Mayoral election for the first time in 2021 when the election was then held under the Supplementary Vote system. With the Mayoral election now held under the First Past The Post, there were no second preference votes.

Local elections took place in England on 4th May while elections will take place in Northern Ireland on 18th May.

Animal Welfare Party stood two candidates in local elections in England; Gavin Ridley in Alderney and Bourne Valley ward, Dorset and Jane Smith in Smallwood parish, Cheshire.

In Alderney and Bourne Valley, Dorset, Gavin Ridley received 239 votes (2.9%).

Animal Welfare Party held its 2023 AGM on Sunday 26th February. The party’s first hybrid AGM, the meeting took place both on-line via the Zoom platform and in person at The Crown Plaza, London Kings Cross. The meeting was recorded and will be made available to party Members in due course.

Animal Welfare Party is celebrating encouraging results in last week’s local elections in which the party stood two candidates:

In Southend’s Victoria Ward, where AWP’s candidate Rik Moran stood for the first time, he received 105 votes / 3%.

In Croydon’s Addiscombe West ward, where AWP’s candidate Saffron Gloyne stood for the first time, she received 155 votes / 1.6%.
