Animal Welfare Party is celebrating encouraging results in last week’s local elections in which the party stood two candidates:
- In Southend’s Victoria Ward, where AWP’s candidate Rik Moran stood for the first time, he received 105 votes / 3%.
- In Croydon’s Addiscombe West ward, where AWP’s candidate Saffron Gloyne stood for the first time, she received 155 votes / 1.6%.
Although our candidates weren’t elected, both results are impressive for a first time standing and given that many of the parties AWP was standing against had larger campaign budgets and more national and local media exposure.
It is worth noting, however, that in Victoria ward, Southend, AWP’s Rik Moran received more votes than each of the Liberal Democrat candidates demonstrating that, at times, AWP is able to counter such an advantage.
The party would like to thank Members, Supporters and Donors for their support.
